If you’ve been on social media lately, you might have seen a number of TikTok videos warning of different ‘kidnapping techniques’.
From leaving messages on people’s wheelie bins, to putting water bottles on car hoods and tying things to door handles.
The common message in all the clips is not to get in your vehicle if you notice something unusual or suspicious.
And according to a new video which has gone viral, this could include melted cheese on your car.
A woman named Mimi from the US has urged people to stay safe after fearing she was going to be “taken”.
In a post on TikTok under the name @mimsss39, she said: “So this is for all my ladies out there.
“I went to church on Sunday for about an hour and I came back out and there was melted cheese on my car.
“I called my friend and her mum to come help me scrape it off and as soon as they came this white van with like stickers and they were wearing masks, smoking, pulled out of a parking space that was two spots away from me and they went to the other parking lot across the street where they could watch us clean off the cheese.
“It literally took an hour for me to scrape all this off.
“I personally had no idea that they were using this as a tactic to take people now and if I hadn’t called my friend, I could have easily been taken in the hour that it took me to scrape off the cheese and this happened at my church, so I can’t even imagine where they’re trying to use this on people.”
She added: “If you see cheese on your car, lock it, leave, do not stay in that parking lot because they can easily take you and they’re watching you.”
The TikTok video has since been watched over 175,000 times and garnered over 22,000 likes and hundreds of comments.
One person replied: “Paint is replaceable, you’re not! Go home first then remove the cheese!”
Another said: “Not just cheese. Anything with the car. Sticker, wire, t-shirt. ANYTHING on your car. Ladies be careful.”
A third wrote: “OMG girl I’m so sorry that happened. So happy that you called someone and you were not alone.”
Someone else added: “Never have I ever thought that, as a woman, I would need to fear cheese. Are we not allowed to enjoy anything?”
“This is so scary,” proclaimed a different user. “When you start driving, you always need to be aware.”
